D-DAY OF FIRE AND RESQLYMPICS

St. Paul University San Miguel's campus was ablaze with excitement as the D-Day of the 1st School Fire and ResQlympics 2024 unfolded, showcasing the culmination of intense training and dedication by student fire and rescue champions.

Hosted by the BFP Fire Station San Miguel, the event carried the theme "Fire and Rescue Preparedness: Equipping Paulinians Towards a Transformative and Vigilant Community” in line with the National theme recurring “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa," emphasizing unity in fire safety efforts. The simple yet profound objective of this Olympics to showcase the bravery, skills, and teamwork of the tertiary department was able to attain through the perseverance and commitment of the Good Governance and Social Responsibility Team guided by their Professor and College Coordinator, Mr. Jose C. Lazaro Jr.

The day began with a solemn invocation, reminding participants and spectators of the importance of being CHRIST-CENTERED in all endeavors. Followed by the lighting of the torch led by Mr. Denn Michael Pablo and SFO4 Mark Santos torch, symbolizing unity and excellence. The oath of sportsmanship, led by FO2 Jeferson Camua, further reinforced values of fairness, teamwork, and camaraderie among participants. Mr. Jeffrey Santos and FO2 Armel Umali provided essential guidelines and rules, ensuring clarity and precision for participants.


Throughout the Olympics, participants engaged in a series of grueling competitions and challenges designed to test their agility, teamwork, and decision-making skills. In the fire safety category, challenges included Bucket Relay, Flammable Liquid Fire Extinguishment Challenge, and Hose Laying and Replacement of Busted Hose, impressing the audience with their quick thinking and effective coordination. In the rescue preparedness category, Paulinians demonstrated their proficiency in life-saving techniques essential for emergency response scenarios. Each team showcased their abilities in Cardiopulmonary


Resuscitation, Mass Casualty Incident response, and Immobilization and Bandaging Techniques.

By organizing and participating in the Olympics, the university fulfilled its COMMISSION to educate and empower individuals to be proactive in mitigating fire-related risks, not only within the campus but also in the wider COMMUNITY. The unique CHARISM of Paulinians was evident in their commitment to excellence and the spirit of compassion to serve others. Through their participation and dedication in the competitions, they embodied the spirit of CHARITY by showcasing their readiness to assist and protect others in times of crisis.


The Fire and ResQlimpics 2024 at St. Paul University San Miguel was not just a competition, but a testament to the commitment of the Paulinian community towards creating a safe and vigilant environment. It served as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and rescue preparedness, inspiring all to be proactive in ensuring the well-being of others.
