St. Paul University at San Miguel, or SPUSM as a whole institution, is known for upholding the principles and values of the Roman Catholic Church. It is strongly committed to educating individuals and cultivating the values of community service and social responsibility.
SPUSM is committed to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, which entail 17 goals that address social and environmental issues to create a sustainable future for everyone. With that being said, SPUSM combats climate change and empowers students by organizing community clean-up and disaster preparedness activities, aligning with SDG 13, "Climate Action," and SDG 11, "Sustainable Cities and Communities." Additionally, SPUSM conducts dengue awareness campaigns to combat dengue fever which denotes SDG 3, "Good Health and Well-being," and runs a feeding program that fits SDG 2, "Zero Hunger," respectively to ensure access to nutritious food for all. These practical actions exemplify the institution's commitment to social responsibility.
Last year, SPUSM demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by publishing its first-ever Sustainability Report, outlining progress and continued commitment to improve societal impact. With our theme, "A Call for Volunteerism and Leadership," we drive positive change through dedicating time and skills to help others, lead projects, and create a sustainable future. These initiatives support SDG 17 - partnership for the goals, encouraging nearby and global communities to partner and work towards sustainable development.
Engaging in CSR activities is crucial to the institution's mission to provide holistic education that prepares students to be ethical leaders. Students learn the values of compassion, integrity, and service to initiate positive change while developing problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills. This school year 2022-2023, SPUSM will improve and will continue its sustainability efforts and showcase new perspectives that capture different SDG principles, modeling and mentoring Christ-Centered Paulinian College Students to be committed to an urgent call for action by the United Nations.
