On the morning of May 24, 2024, the National Service Training Program (NSTP) students of St. Paul University at San Miguel (SPUSM) conducted an internal clean-up drive at the College Building. This event, involving first-year and second-year students, was aimed at preparing the campus for the upcoming school year. The students were guided by the College Faculty and their NSTP Adviser, Mr. Karl de Belen. As they held their rags and brooms, each went to their assigned rooms and floors and started strategizing their cleaning process to effectively and efficiently conduct the cleaning initiative.
As the students started on their cleaning tasks, they demonstrated their GLEANER values. The clean-up drive was marked by the students' PRAYERFUL nature, which involved being mindful of their identity as Paulinian Gleaners and their duty to give back to the university to fulfill their communal responsibilities. With some students even singing the Paulinian Mission Song together as they wipe the windows clean. SELF-EFFACING by prioritizing the collective goal over individual recognition.
Working together harmoniously, they ensured that every corner of the College Building was neatly cleaned, showing their humility and dedication for service. The TRANQUIL DARING trait was evident as the students faced and overcame challenging cleaning tasks with calmness and determination. Whether it was reaching high stains, wiping the chairs, or mopping the floor, their composed yet resolute approach ensured that the job was done. The clean-up drive also highlighted the ALL TO ALL trait, with students from different backgrounds and year levels working side by side. This inclusivity and teamwork brought out a spirit of unity, ensuring that everyone felt valued and included in the effort.
This clean-up drive demonstrated how collective action and mutual support can lead to successful outcomes. The clean-up drive not only prepared the campus but also strengthened the bonds among the students and reinforced their commitment to the Paulinian values of service and excellence. This event showcased the positive impact that can be achieved through collaboration and adherence to core values, setting a powerful example for the entire SPUSM community.
