EVENTS
Labor Day, also known as “Araw ng mga Manggagawa” is celebrated annually in the Philippines on the 1st day of May. Today, let us dedicate this celebration to honoring the contributions of workers or the labor force nationwide. It is an opportune moment to acknowledge and recognize every Filipino worker, regardless of their job. This is not only to reflect on the significance of labor but also on their values and commitment that serve as their foundation in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities in the society.
The Paulinian Gleaners is a shining example of the values that define Labor Day and the workers nationwide. Through embodying the spirit of PRAYERFULNESS, they recognize the importance of spirituality and reflection in the field of work. They remain connected to their spiritual foundation, drawing strength and guidance from their faith. Their SELF-EFFACING nature reminds us of the humility and dedication that characterize true labor. They work hard not for the spotlight but for the fulfillment of their mission, content to work behind the scenes if it means serving others more effectively. When confronted with daunting tasks or overwhelming responsibilities, laborers demonstrate the value of TRANQUIL-DARING, fulfill them with courage and serenity, trusting in God's providence and their capabilities. And ALL TO ALL, workers are always driven and dedicated to serving others and making a positive impact on the community.

01 MAY 2024 | PHILIPPINES LABOR DAY
The Paulinian community is renowned for its commitment to social responsibility. This initiative includes a Dengue Awareness, and a Disaster Preparedness Program. Along with this, Paulinians will take action by participating in feeding programs and clean-up drives, exemplifying the core values of a Paulinian leader.
Health is wealth, and prevention is a cure. Dengue has been a serious concern in the Philippines ever since. This viral infection can cause flu-like symptoms, but severe cases can lead to internal bleeding and even death. Additionally, one of the major challenges of our community is natural disasters, particularly earthquakes and floods that pose a significant threat to communities around the world.
Under the theme "Paulinian: Joyful Witnesses of Christ," the Baccalaureate Mass of 2024, presided by Rev. Fr. Ramil Tapang, marked a profound moment for the graduating class of Paulinians. This Mass signifies a significant milestone in their journey— a peak of years of hard work, dedication, and growth. It serves as a moment of gratitude for the past and hope for the future.
Fr. Ramil captured the essence of graduation as a culmination of countless thoughts, feelings, and aspirations. He painted a picture of the journey ahead as exciting and amazing, where one event can elicit a range of reactions. The homily, delivered with unwavering conviction and gentle wisdom, reminded us of the three ideas on how to not only succeed in life but to become joyful witnesses of Christ: "Sarili, Sakripisyo, at Saya." He emphasized that success should not be measured by minimum effort but by wholehearted commitment and giving one's whole self to every endeavor. Acknowledging the inevitability of sacrifices along life's path, Fr. Tapang emphasized that these are not meant to diminish one's spirit but to bring out the best within.

Graduation is a significant milestone in any student's life, representing years of hard work, dedication, and growth. The journey from preparation to the final moment of marching across the stage is filled with excitement and anticipation.
As the big day is approaching, the atmosphere of St. Paul University at San Miguel radiated with excitement and ecstatic as the graduating students with their guardians by their side could not contain their emotions. In designated preparation rooms, the final touches were applied. Paulinian graduates cheerfully started with their makeup and style their hair, aiming for a look that captures their joy and pride on this significant occasion. Graduation gowns and togas, caps with tassels, hoods, and fleur-de-lis symbols—all tokens of their academic journey—are meticulously laid out. For the college students from programs including BEED, BSE English and Filipino, BSBA, and BSCS, putting on these garments brings a profound sense of accomplishment. These symbols not only represent years of effort and achievement but also serve as a reminder of their transformative journey.

20 MAY 2024 | GGSR ADVOCACY– DAY 2

Before the sun rose to illuminate St. Paul University at San Miguel, the day had already begun as the Paulinians gathered and undertook the crucial task of preparing for three significant community outreach programs in Mandile, San Miguel Bulacan: a feeding program, disaster preparedness, and a clean-up drive. Attendance was taken promptly, with each student submitting their signed waivers and medical certificates. These documents were essential to confirm the students' fitness for participation and to ensure they were aware of the safety protocols. SPUSM Kolehiyo then made its way to their respective jeepney numbers, bottling up their energy. The boarding process was organized efficiently, supervised by the Good Governance and Social Responsibility team, headed by their esteemed College Coordinator, Mr. Jose C. Lazaro Jr.- ensuring all students were accounted for and seated comfortably
The preparations were infused with a spirit of CHRIST-CENTEREDNESS. Before boarding the jeepneys, the students took a moment to pray for guidance and success in their mission. This prayer set the tone for the day's activities, reminding everyone of the importance of serving with a heart inspired by Christ’s teachings. With the preliminary checks completed, the students boarded jeepneys arranged for their transportation to Mandile.

17 MAY 2024 | SPUSM KOLEHIYO; READY TO BUILD A SYNODAL COMMUNITY!
After minutes of ride, SPUSM Kolehiyo finally arrived at Mandile (Tagalog), San Miguel, Bulacan– armed with gloves, sacks, walis tingting, and rakes, the students proceeded to a clean-up drive beneath the Mandile Bridge. The day began with a heartfelt prayer, uniting the students in their shared mission to serve the community of Brgy. Mandile. With heads bowed and hearts open, they sought guidance and blessings, embracing the CHRIST-CENTERED values that underpin their actions. This area, often neglected, had accumulated a significant amount of litter. The students diligently picked up the trash, segregating it as they went along to ensure proper disposal and recycling. This activity not only helped in improving the local environment but also raised awareness about the importance of waste management and environmental stewardship. This clean-up drive supports SDG 15: Life on Land, emphasizing the need to manage waste responsibly to protect our natural resources. By the end of the morning, the once littered area was transformed, showcasing the students' dedication and hard work. The clean-up drive served as a powerful reminder of the impact that collective action can have on the COMMUNITY, demonstrating the Paulinian core value.
Following the clean-up drive, residents of Brgy. Mandile attended a disaster preparedness seminar. It was an essential component of the initiative, aimed to enhance the community's resilience in the face of natural disasters.

22 MAY 2024 | SPUSM KOLEHIYO; READY TO TRANSCEND HOPE IN STA. INES!
The resounding chant echoed in the walls of Msgr. Honorio Resurreccion Gymnasium as the Paulinian community gathered to witness and venerate the image of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno. This event is remarkable and meaningful as this marks the First Traslacion of Nazareno in St. Paul University at San Miguel. As Paulinians wave their white flannel in excitement and reverence, each was filled with the anticipation of meeting the revered image. The tertiary department prepared a Karakol or “devoted” dance as the image entered the gymnasium and created a spiritual environment.
The mass started under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Juvenson Alarcon. His homily highlighted the extravagant love of Christ– exploring the existence of black nazarene by proclaiming that it is not solely focused on Christ’s suffering en route to crucifixion but a testament of His extravagant love for us.

22 MAY 2024 | DAY 2 - STA. INES | PART 1
After an hour of removing litter and picking up various types of wastes from Sitio Balukok 2 and Kalye 22, the two streets were altered into a sustainable environment. Fueled by energy and commitment, SPUSM Kolehiyo unveils how working together and collaboration is powerful to create difference and build a sustainable community. This community initiative aimed to improve environmental health and community well-being. By bringing together students, faculty, and local residents of Sta. Ines, SPUSM Kolehiyo fosters a sense of shared responsibility and community spirit.
As Paulinian Gleaners, the university exhibits PRAYERFUL spirit by following God’s will– designed to live with a sense of purpose and responsibility as stewards of all creation. Determined to make a long lasting impact that transcends beyond the community. Embodying the value of TRANQUIL-DARING, this helps to embrace the responsibility and push boundaries that empower Paulinians to perform more than their civic duty even if it is backbreaking and beyond their capacity. As SELF-EFFACING, the university humbly acknowledges this profound contribution made to other communities and focused more on improving the environment. Paulinians willingness to serve everyone, especially those who are in need, unveils that the university is deeply committed to be ALL-TO-ALL– lending a hand to create a cleaner and greener surroundings.

22 MAY 2024 | CLEAN-UP DRIVE, BEFORE AND AFTER

“Reach out if you need help, or be there for someone who needs help”
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, SPUSM Kolehiyo reminds us to recognize the immense impact of mental illness in our lives and the overall well-being of an individual– amplifying the message in line with the theme “Take a Moment”. In the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) said based on the World Health Organization Special Initiative for Mental Health that was conducted in early 2020, 3.6 million Filipinos are suffering from at least one type of mental, neurological, or substance use disorders.
Mental health issues have long been considered as a serious concern in the Philippines as it is often stigmatized, preventing people from seeking the help they need. Up to this day, numbers of Filipinos suffering from Mental Illness were likely to be higher since many don’t seek due to economic and social barriers. These challenges underscore the importance of addressing mental health issues and ensuring accessible support for all.
